Set Up Programs for Accreditations

A program is the time-frame during which a learner may earn a particular accreditation.

Feature Overview and Requirements

A program is an established time-frame during which a learner may earn the accreditations associated with it.

It is possible to have multiple programs active concurrently. Courses completed after the end date of the program will not count toward the accreditation. Programs can also be open-ended without expiration for several years.

Latitude recommends keeping the list of programs as simple as necessary to make it easier to search for accreditations later. Often, a long-term program, set to expire years in the future, can meet most needs.

Accreditations can still be end-dated or revoked using a long term program. If Program Configurations are set to enable end-dating, a portal administrator can trigger a revocation by simply replacing existing content in the accreditation generic rules with new content the student has not completed. For instance, simply replacing the 2025 version of a course with a new course for the 2026 content can trigger the need for the learner to take the course to regain their achievement.

Step by Step Procedure and Field Description

To create a program in the LMS:

  1. From the left navigation menu, select Accreditations > Add Program .
  2. On the “Add Program” page, enter information in each field as described below. All fields are required.
    a. Language: Provide translations for Program Name. Default “English” is required.
    b. Program: Enter the program year in format [yyyy].
    c. Program Name: Enter a descriptive title for the program.
    d. Effective Date: Select the date on which the program becomes effective.
    e. End Date: Select the date on which the program expires.
  3. Click Submit .

When a program expires, learners do not lose their historical accreditation achievements. The effect is that they can no longer earn that accreditation going forward.

Some examples of Programs:

  • Ongoing: “2025 Forward”  set to expire in 2040. People can earn this accreditation for the long term future.  Periodic changes to the accreditation may require additional work to re-achieve the accreditation, but the opportunity to earn it continues for years.
  • Time-Limited: “2026 OSHA Certification” set for the calendar year 2026. The learner can only achieve this accreditation in 2026, after which the program and the accreditations within it are no longer available for achievement.
